Mumbai Fire News: A 63-year-old woman died and another woman was injured after a fire broke out in a residential building in Vile Parle East on Monday, February 9, 2026. The blaze started at about 12.44 p.m. on the 13th floor of the Suvidha Pearl building on Pheroze Shah Mehta Road. The fire brigade deployed five fire engines and two jumbo water tankers to control the blaze. The fire was brought under control at about 1.44 p.m.

According to the reports, the fire began in an electrical wiring duct inside a room and later spread to other parts of the apartment. The deceased was identified as Bhavna Satra, 63. A 34-year-old woman, identified as Aneree, was also in the flat at the time of the incident and suffered injuries.

Both women reportedly inhaled heavy smoke, which caused breathing problems. They were taken to Nanavati Hospital, where Satra was declared dead. Aneree is undergoing treatment.

The flat was located on the top floor, which made the operation difficult as the corridor and staircases were filled with smoke. By the time firefighters rescued the women, both were unconscious.
