Mumbai: Four RCF Police Personnel Arrested for Theft During Action Against Illegal Bangladeshi Nationals
In a shocking incident that has brought embarrassment to the Mumbai Police, an Assistant Police Inspector and three constables attached to the Anti-Terrorist Cell (ATC) of RCF Police Station have been arrested for alleged theft.
According to police sources, the entire ATC team of RCF Police Station, comprising one Assistant Police Inspector and three constables, has been taken into custody in connection with the case.
The incident reportedly took place about a month ago during a drive against Bangladeshi nationals allegedly residing illegally in Mumbai. During one such operation, the ATC team visited the house of a Bangladeshi woman located within the jurisdiction of RCF Police Station. It is alleged that the police personnel took away cash and gold jewellery from the house.
The woman later lodged a complaint with the police department, alleging that the police team had entered her residence and stolen the cash and gold ornaments kept there.
Following the receipt of the complaint, a detailed inquiry was initiated. After the allegations were found to be prima facie true, a case was registered against the four accused late on Friday night. All four were arrested immediately after the registration of the case.
Further investigation is currently underway. However, since the matter involves police personnel, the Mumbai Police have so far refrained from sharing detailed information about the case.
