Mumbai: Fruit Sellers Arrested in Malad for Allegedly Applying Rat Poison on Fruits; Shop Sealed After Video Goes Viral

A shocking incident has come to light from Malad in Mumbai, where two fruit vendors have been arrested for allegedly applying rat poison on fruits before selling them in the market. The act could have posed a serious threat to public health. The matter surfaced after local resident Kunal Salunke lodged a written complaint with the police. In his complaint, he alleged that two fruit sellers were applying a toxic substance to fruits in the name of protecting them from rats. The entire incident was reportedly captured on camera, and the video was submitted to the police as evidence. The footage has since gone viral on social media.

Acting swiftly on the complaint, a team from Malad Police Station reached the spot and initiated an investigation. During preliminary questioning, the accused allegedly admitted that they had been applying rat poison on the fruits to prevent damage by rodents. According to police officials, such an act is not only illegal but also extremely dangerous to public health. Authorities have sealed the shop and arrested the two accused, identified as Manoj Kumar Kesarwani and Bipin Kesarwani. A case has been registered against them, and further investigation is underway.

Police officials have made it clear that negligence involving food safety will not be tolerated. They also stated that if more facts emerge during the investigation, the concerned departments will be informed for further action. The incident has triggered panic and outrage in the locality, raising serious concerns about food safety and public health standards.
