Mumbai Horror: Man Pushes Wife Under Train at Mulund Railway Station After Divorce Demand

A shocking incident at Mulund Railway Station in Mumbai’s suburbs has left people stunned. A domestic dispute between a husband and wife escalated tragically. The woman had arrived at the station with her 13-year-old son, planning to visit relatives, when her husband followed her there. An argument broke out again on the platform, during which the wife demanded a divorce. Enraged by her demand, the husband allegedly pushed her in front of a local train heading towards Kalyan, leading to her death. The deceased couple, Raju Gupta and Pushpa Gupta, lived in Ramgad area of Mulund West and had two children.

For several days prior to the incident, the couple had been frequently arguing. Frustrated by continuous disputes, Pushpa had filed a complaint at Mulund Police Station on February 13. Later, she left for her maternal home in Uttar Pradesh with her elder son, while the younger child stayed with Raju. Pushpa was unwilling to return to Mumbai, but her brother Kamlesh Kumar, who serves in the Indian Army, tried to mediate and resolve their issues. On March 14, she returned to Mulund with her brother, hoping for reconciliation. However, soon after reaching home, arguments resumed, prompting her to file another complaint against her husband.

After the situation worsened, Pushpa decided to leave again with her brother and son to stay with relatives. The three reached Mulund Railway Station and purchased tickets to travel to Kalwa. However, when Kamlesh checked his wallet, he found that his ATM card, PAN card, identity proof, and military ID were missing. Suspecting something was wrong, he called Raju, who claimed that all the documents were at home. Kamlesh then asked Pushpa to wait at the station and went back to the house to retrieve them.

At home, another heated argument broke out between Kamlesh and Raju. During the altercation, Raju reportedly sent the younger child outside and cleverly locked Kamlesh inside the house. He then rushed to the railway station with the child. At the station, he again confronted Pushpa and insisted that she return home. Tired and angry, Pushpa firmly refused and repeated her demand for a divorce. This further enraged Raju, who then allegedly pushed her in front of an incoming local train bound for Kalyan, resulting in her death on the spot.

Following the incident, Raju fled the scene, triggering a police search operation. A special team of railway police later tracked him down and arrested him from Surat. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the case to establish the full sequence of events and gather evidence. The tragic episode has once again raised serious concerns about domestic violence and safety in public spaces, especially in crowded transit hubs like suburban railway stations in Mumbai.
