A 48-year-old man has been taken into custody by the MIDC Police for allegedly trying to murder his wife and attack his son after a domestic quarrel in the Andheri MIDC locality. The incident reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over a mobile phone, which soon spiralled into a violent confrontation inside their residence. Authorities stated that what began as a verbal dispute rapidly intensified, creating a tense situation within the household. The police acted swiftly after receiving information about the altercation. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the law, and officials have initiated a detailed probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The accused, identified as Santosh Rawate, is alleged to have assaulted his 44-year-old wife, Neeta Rawate, with a sharp-edged weapon during a heated argument. Their son suffered injuries to his left hand after the accused tried to assault him. Police officials said the confrontation arose after a disagreement related to checking the mobile phone and certain conversations, which further aggravated tensions between the couple. In a fit of rage, the man allegedly attacked his wife, leaving her with severe injuries. She was immediately shifted to a trauma care hospital in Jogeshwari for urgent medical attention. Doctors are currently monitoring her condition as she continues to receive treatment for the wounds sustained in the assault.
The commotion from the couple’s residence drew the attention of neighbours, who quickly intervened and informed the police, preventing the situation from worsening. Their seven-year-old son was reportedly present at home when the incident occurred, adding to the gravity of the episode. Upon arrival, police officials detained the accused and later formally arrested him on charges of attempted murder. He was presented before a local magistrate, who ordered his remand in police custody for further questioning. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and statements to ascertain the complete sequence of events.
