A shocking incident has come to light from the Versova area in Andheri West, where a young woman was allegedly assaulted inside her house and had her hair forcibly cut. The accused also reportedly recorded a video of the act and threatened to make it viral. Versova Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
According to police, the victim is a 20-year-old student residing in Versova with her family. In her complaint, she stated that she had been introduced to a woman named Laiba Halani (21) and her boyfriend Harshad through a common friend. However, the victim clarified that she had no personal relationship with Harshad.
As per the complaint, the incident occurred around 12:30 am on March 25, 2025. The victim was at home while her domestic help was asleep when the doorbell rang. Assuming it to be a delivery, she opened the door, only to find Laiba Halani along with two other women. It is alleged that Laiba forcibly dragged the victim outside the house and began cutting her hair, while the other two women recorded the incident on their mobile phones.
After cutting her hair, the accused allegedly threatened the victim by saying “hair or no hair” and warned her that the video would be made viral. They then fled the scene, reportedly taking some of the cut hair with them.
The victim has alleged that Laiba suspected her of having an inappropriate relationship with her boyfriend Harshad, which led to the attack.
Following the incident, the victim lodged a complaint at Versova Police Station. Police have registered a case against Laiba Halani and her two unidentified accomplices. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the accused at the earliest, officials said.
