Mumbai Local Train Stone Pelting Case: Commuter Loses Vision in One Eye After Being Hit During Bandra Train Clash; Accused Arrested

A 28-year-old Mumbai commuter permanently lost vision in his left eye after being struck by a stone during a violent altercation on a local train at Bandra Railway Station. The incident occurred late Tuesday night around 11 pm on a fast Dadar-bound local from Andheri. A quarrel erupted between two passengers inside the train, escalating rapidly. During the scuffle, one of the men jumped onto the railway tracks and hurled a stone toward his opponent. Instead, the stone hit an unsuspecting passenger, identified as Khatri, who was returning home from work. Severely injured, he immediately got down at Bandra and was rushed to Bhabha Hospital by on-duty railway staff.

Following the incident, the Bandra Railway Police registered a case on Wednesday and launched an investigation to trace the attacker. Investigators analysed CCTV footage from the station premises and relied on human intelligence to identify the suspect’s movements. The accused was tracked to Dadar and later apprehended by the crime detection team. He was identified as Yogendra Vanshraj Bauddh, a 26-year-old labourer residing in Navghar East, Palghar district, originally from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Bauddh was formally arrested on Thursday at around 2 pm. The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior Mumbai Railway Police officials.
