Mumbai Local Train Update: 14 AC Locals to Run on Harbour Line; Check Date and Timings

Mumbai locals, which are called the lifeline of the city, are all set to welcome AC local train services on the Harbour Line. As of now Ac local train services are only available on Central and western line and harbour line commuters were waiting for years to experience similar facilities. According to reports, first air-conditioned local train will begin operations on the Harbour route from Republic Day, 26th January 2026.

As per the TV9 Marathi reports, Railway officials announced that 14 AC local train services will operate daily between CSMT and Panvel from Monday to Saturday. Seven trains will run in each direction. This addition aims to alleviate crowding and improve passenger comfort, especially during peak hours on the Harbour line. The train which will deployed on the Harbour route is a new train that was manufactured in Chennai and recently inducted into the Mumbai division of the Central Railway. Central Railway headquarters approved the operations department's proposal to run the train on the Harbour line.

Ac Local timings and Route

AC local services are expanding on the Harbour line, covering Vashi–Wadala Road, Panvel–CSMT, and Panvel–Wadala Road routes. The last AC local from Panvel to CSMT departs at 6:37 pm, and the last from CSMT to Panvel leaves at 8:00 pm.

Railway officials said the introduction of AC locals on the Harbour line will improve passenger comfort, modernize Mumbai's suburban rail network, and provide equitable services across the system. Office workers and daily commuters, who have long requested better travel conditions, are expected to welcome the more comfortable and efficient daily commute.
