In unexpected turn of events a slab of girder bridge of metro line 4 fell onto vehicles on LBS Marg in Mulund West, leaving one person dead and other three injured. Additional Metropolitan Commissioner-II of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) Ashwin Ashok Mudgal said that action has been taken against the contractor and general consultants and fine has been imposed in this regards. A slab of the girder bridge of an under-construction metro rail Line 4 collapsed onto a few vehicles in Mulund.
Ashwin Ashok Mudgal visited the slab collapse site and told reporters that, "One person has unfortunately died, and I express my deepest condolences. We understand the seriousness of this loss. We will investigate how this incident happened, and after the inquiry, we will take action. We will not spare anyone. The investigation will be completely fair and impartial. Action has already been initiated on all complaints. If you ask complaint-wise, we can provide you with a report. There is no issue that will be ignored. MMRDA will conduct the inquiry in a completely fair manner." Mudgal added, "A Rs 5 crore penalty has been imposed on the contractor responsible for the project, and a panel has been formed for a technical inquiry.”

About Incident
At approximately 12:20 PM on LBS Marg in Mulund West, near the Johnson & Johnson and Oberoi buildings, a slab collapsed onto passing vehicles, including cars and an autorickshaw. The collapse resulted in significant damage, with vehicles seen crushed under the debris. In this incident, Ramdhan Yadav was declared dead upon arrival. Rajkumar Yadav (45) is critically injured, while Mahendra Pratap Yadav (52) and Deepa Ruhiya (40) are hospitalized in stable condition.
Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia announced
Following a fatal slab collapse in Mulund West that killed several people, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis announced a Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia for the deceased's families and ordered a thorough investigation. Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde, who visited the site on LBS Marg near Johnson & Johnson and Oberoi premises, condemned the incident as "huge negligence," questioning the safety norms followed during the recent fitting of the parapet. The collapse, which occurred around 12:20 pm, crushed vehicles passing below, including cars and an autorickshaw.
