Mumbai Metro Line 3: CMRS Inspection Begins for Underground Route Between BKC and Acharya Atre Chowk in Worli

The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) has begun inspecting the second phase of Mumbai’s Metro Line 3, from Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) to Acharya Atre Chowk (Worli). As soon as the CMRS certificate is granted, the second phase of the Colaba to Seepz metro corridor will be opened to the public.

The CMRS team commenced inspections on Monday and is expected to continue the process for the next three to four days. Once the safety certificate is issued, the route will be ready for operations, and sources suggest the metro line could be commissioned as early as next week.

Trial Runs Underway

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) is constructing a 33.5-km-long fully underground Metro Line 3, which will include 27 stations. The first phase, from Aarey to BKC, began operations in October and includes 10 operational stations.

In the upcoming second phase, metro services will begin between BKC and Acharya Atre Chowk (Worli Naka), covering six new stations. This extension will enable metro connectivity from Aarey to Worli Naka. Trial runs on the new route have already begun, and the final launch is awaiting CMRS approval.
