Mumbai Police have intensified their crackdown following the death of two college students due to a suspected drug overdose during a live music concert at the NESCO Centre. In a significant breakthrough, the Vanrai Police have arrested a 21-year-old accused, identified as Shubh Agrawal, from Kalyan.
According to investigating agencies, Shubh Agrawal played a crucial role in the drug supply chain and was allegedly involved in distributing narcotics, particularly to college students and youth in hostels.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had earlier delivered a packet containing MDMA (ecstasy) drugs to a hostel located in the Charni Road area. The delivery was allegedly made on the instructions of already arrested supplier Anand Patel and was meant for another accused, Prateek Pandey.
Following his arrest, Shubh Agrawal was produced before a Borivali court. During the hearing, his lawyers, Surendra Landge and Azad Gupta, denied all allegations, stating that no drugs were recovered from their client. They argued that he was falsely implicated and had merely delivered a package without any knowledge of its contents.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court remanded the accused to police custody till April 20 for further interrogation.
Meanwhile, during police questioning, Prateek Pandey reportedly admitted that he had procured ecstasy pills from Anand Patel and that the consignment was delivered to him through Shubh Agrawal.
Investigations have further revealed that Shubh Agrawal was present at the NESCO party held on April 11, 2026. Police stated that technical evidence and location data confirm his presence at the venue, where he was also in contact with other accused individuals. Authorities suspect that the drug supply network was active during the event.
Police are now working to trace the larger network, including identifying the source of the drugs, the distribution chain, and other individuals involved. Investigators are also probing who arranged Shubh Agrawal’s entry to the concert, who accompanied him, and whether he supplied drugs to others apart from Prateek Pandey.
