Mumbai: In a major breakthrough in the case involving a music concert and drug overdose deaths at NESCO Ground in Goregaon, the Mumbai Police have arrested the main accused and alleged drug supplier.
The Vanrai Police, in a joint operation with Raigad’s Poladpur Police late Friday night, arrested Ayush Vicky Sahitya (24), who is accused of supplying drugs at several events in Mumbai, including the NESCO event. This marks the ninth arrest in the case so far.
According to the police, the accused is a resident of Ulhasnagar and had been absconding since the incident. Acting on a tip-off that he was planning to flee to Goa via the Mumbai-Goa Highway, the Mumbai Police alerted the Poladpur Police and the Local Crime Branch (LCB).
Following the alert, the Poladpur Police set up checkpoints along the highway and began inspecting suspicious vehicles. During the late-night operation, the joint team successfully apprehended the accused.
After being brought to Mumbai, Sahitya was produced before the Borivali Court, which remanded him to police custody till April 20.
The case pertains to the deaths of two individuals due to suspected drug overdose during a music concert at NESCO Ground. Police investigations are ongoing to trace the larger drug network involved.
