Mumbai Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a female dog in Kandivali East. The accused was taken into custody by Samta Nagar Police following a complaint lodged by a local social worker.

According to the FIR, the incident came to light on February 1 when the social worker was returning home from her uncle’s residence and noticed a crowd gathered near a drain in the Lokhandwala Complex area. Upon reaching the spot, she found the accused lying inside the drain with a female dog that was crying in pain.

The dog was found to have injuries to its private parts and was immediately rushed to Parel Animal Hospital for treatment. Medical examination confirmed that the animal had been sexually assaulted.

Subsequently, the social worker approached Samta Nagar Police, who registered a case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused, identified as Sanjay Gaud, was later arrested, and further investigation is underway.
