Mumbai: SIT Chargesheet Reveals Shocking Details in Dr Gauri Palve Suicide Case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the high-profile suicide case of Dr Gauri Palve has made several startling revelations in its chargesheet. According to the chargesheet, Anant Gajre, personal assistant to Maharashtra leader Pankaja Munde, not only abused his wife Dr Gauri verbally but also repeatedly instigated her over phone calls, telling her to “go and die.”

The chargesheet states that on the night of November 22, the couple had an intense telephonic argument during which the conversation escalated to discussions about suicide. Anant allegedly recorded the call and later sent the same audio clip to Dr Gauri’s mobile phone. The SIT has said this act was deliberate and aimed at intimidating her and increasing mental pressure.

Investigators have identified 17 voice messages as the most crucial evidence in the case. These messages were sent by Dr Gauri to a close friend, in which she is mentioned detailed the threats, intimidation and mental harassment she faced from her husband. Dr Gauri reportedly said that Anant would threaten to make the recordings viral, fearing that it would destroy her reputation. This constant fear significantly weakened her mental state.

According to the chargesheet, Anant Gajre’s conduct amounted to sustained mental cruelty and intimidation, and was not a result of momentary anger. The SIT concluded that the continued harassment pushed Dr Gauri towards suicide. It has also been stated that Anant had concealed several important facts about his personal life from Dr Gauri, which amounted to a breach of marital trust and became a major source of stress.

Earlier, the names of Anant’s brother Ajay Gajre and sister Sheetal Gajre Andhale had also surfaced during the investigation. However, due to lack of evidence, the SIT has given them a clean chit. The chargesheet has been filed only against Anant Gajre (32).

The case was initially registered as an Accidental Death Report (ADR). A panchnama was conducted in the presence of two government magistrates. The post-mortem conducted at Nair Hospital concluded that the cause of death was ligature compression of the neck, categorising it as an unnatural death.

The forensic team seized bedsheets, pillow covers, blankets, hair samples and dust samples from the residence, all of which have been sent for laboratory analysis.

The SIT stated that witness testimonies, technical evidence and voice recordings clearly establish that Anant Gajre’s actions were intentional, provocative and amounted to mental cruelty. The chargesheet concludes that this psychological intimidation and fear of public defamation ultimately pushed Dr Gauri Palve to the brink of suicide.
