Mumbai: A 33-year-old man died and two others were injured early on April 15 when a speeding truck crashed into a roadside worksite on the Eastern Express Highway near the Bhandup Pumping Station. The deceased identified as Chandan Kumar Madan Prasad, originally from Barawa Kaparpura, Gopalganj, Bihar, and residing in MHADA Colony, Mulund East, left for his night shift duty site near Bhandup Pumping Station around 9 pm on April 14.
The deceased Prasad and two co-worker were seated at the worksite, when around 4:15 am a speeding Eicher truck rammed through barricades at the site and hit Prasad and other workers, causing severe injuries. Jojo Thomas and Mukesh Kumar Singh were also got injured. The accident caused panic, and coworkers alerted police and transported all three to Veer Savarkar Hospital. Prasad was moved to Fortis Hospital, but pronounced dead at 6:25 am.
Following a complaint by Rahul Kumar Raghunath Prasad, 32, police detained Mohammad Tajir Jan Mohammad, a resident of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, for negligent and rash driving causing death.

The Vikhroli police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act and the Motor Vehicles Act, and an investigation is underway.
