Mumbai Traffic Update: Road Closures Announced for PM Narendra Modi and Emmanuel Macron Visit on February 17 – Check Alternate Routes
Traffic authorities have announced road restrictions in Mumbai on February 17 ahead of the main event of the India-France Year of Innovation, which will be attended by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and President of France Emmanuel Macron. South Mumbai will see significant traffic disruptions from 2 pm to 9 pm, with several key roads closed to all vehicles except emergency services. These measures have been implemented to ensure smooth movement and high security for the VVIP event. Commuters are advised to plan their travel in advance to avoid delays.
Roads Closed:
Several stations and major roads will be affected. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg will remain closed from Regal Junction, while P Ramchandani Marg, from North Court to Adam Street Junction, will also be inaccessible to regular traffic. Rambhau Salgaonkar Road, which usually operates as a one-way road from Indu Clinic Junction to Volga Chowk, will be temporarily converted to two-way traffic between 1 pm and 4 pm. Additionally, taxi and BEST bus stands along Adam Street and P Ramchandani Marg will remain closed, and strict no-parking zones will be enforced on Nathalal Parekh Road, Jagannath Bhosle Road, Captain Prakash Pethe Road, Rambhau Salgaonkar Road, Shahid Bhagat Singh Road, and BK Boman Behram Marg.

Alternate Routes:
Authorities have suggested alternate routes to help commuters navigate the closures. Drivers can take Regal Junction → Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg → Mahakavi Bhushan Road → Boman Bheram Marg to reach their destinations. For P Ramchandani Marg, the suggested diversion is via Alva Chowk → Radio Club → Haji Niyaz Azmi Road → Bhid Bhanjan Mandir → right turn → Shahid Bhagat Singh Road → Regal Junction → complete turnaround → Shahid Bhagat Singh Road → Mahakavi Bhushan Marg. In the Western Suburbs, heavy vehicles will not be permitted on the Western Express Highway between Vakola Flyover and Dahisar Toll Naka from 8 am to 9 pm, while ambulances, fire brigade vehicles, police, and VVIP security vehicles will be exempted. Commuters are advised to use alternate routes and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid congestion.
