Mumbai: The several areas of south Mumbai will be experiencing water supply will be disruption for 18 hours from Wednesday April 22 10 am and will resume on April 23 4:00pm. As per the BMC the supply will be disrupted for infrastructure work aimed at improving distribution efficiency. During this water cut, civic body will undertake the installation of two 1500 mm diameter butterfly valves on a key pipeline connected to the Bhandarwada Hill Reservoir tunnel.
The work will be carried out at Shivdi along with Haji Bunder road in F south ward. The BMC stated the installation is part of efforts to streamline water supply from major reservoirs, including Bhandarwada Hill, Fosberry Hill, and Golanji Hill Reservoirs, which is expected to enhance long-term distribution efficiency in the city. Their will be complete shutdown of water supply in parts of A, B, C, E and F South wards, while some localities will experience low water pressure.
- A ward areas including P. D’Mello Road, Ramgad slum, CSMT, St. George Hospital, Government Dental College, Reserve Bank of India, and the Naval Dockyard will experience a water supply shutdown.
- B ward will face water cuts on April 22 in Umarkhadi, Noorbag, Chinchbunder, Walpakhadi, Jail Road and surrounding areas, as well as Dana Bunder, Wadi Bunder, and Mumbai Port Trust areas. On the morning of April 23, parts of Dongri, Masjid Bunder, Mohammed Ali Road and adjoining areas will be affected.
- In C ward, water cuts are expected on April 23 in areas like Bora Bazaar Street, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Road, and Pakmodia Street.
- E ward will be variably impacted. Mazgaon, Dockyard Road, and nearby areas will have a shutdown on April 22, while Nagpada, Agripada, and Byculla will experience low-pressure supply on April 23. Major hospitals including JJ, Kasturba, and Nair are also expected to receive low-pressure water supply.
- In F South ward, Sewri, Wadala (East), and Abhyudaya Nagar will face water cuts on April 23, while Lalbaug, Parel, Dadar, and Hindmata will receive low-pressure supply. Sewri Fort Road and port areas will see supply disruption on April 22. Key hospitals like KEM, Tata, Wadia, and MGM will experience low-pressure supply during the entire work period.

The BMC has advised residents in affected areas to store sufficient water beforehand and use it sparingly during the disruption. As a precaution, residents should boil and filter drinking water for four to five days after the water supply is restored. The BMC requests citizen cooperation during the essential maintenance, which will improve the city's water distribution system.
