Mumbai Weather Update: IMD Issues Rain, Thunderstorm Warning in City, Yellow Alert for Thane, Raigad and Other Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of rain and thundershowers in Mumbai on Wednesday, April 1, in the evening or night. The Colaba observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 25.5 degrees Celsius, while IMD's Santacruz observatory reported 25.6 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, with dry conditions and clear skies.

Pleasant weather this morning in Mumbai as cloudy skies and cool winds are witnessed near the sea shore areas, including near Nariman Point and Marine Drive. The temperature was reported to be 26 degrees Celsius, while the air quality slightly improved.

Yellow Alert Across Maharashtra 

IMD has issue a yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kilometres per hour at isolated places in several districts of Maharashtra, including Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Kolhapur ghats, Kolhapur, Satara ghats, Sangli, Sholapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Akola and Amravati.

Orange Alert in These Districts

The Regional Meteorological Department (RMC) predicted thunderstorms with lightning, hailstorms and stronger gusts of 50-60 kilometres per hour are likely at isolated locations in Nashik, its ghat areas, Ahmednagar, Pune, Pune ghats, Satara, Latur, Dharashiv and Yavatmal.

On Monday, Pune, Nashik, and pockets of Marathwada and western Maharashtra experienced hail and heavy showers. Data showed that between Monday and Tuesday morning, IMD stations like Satara recorded 36 mm rainfall, Pune-Pashan 46 mm, and Jalgaon 14 mm.
