Vasai: Man Attempts to Kill 4-Year-Old Boy for Playing in His Auto-Rickshaw; Arrested
In a shocking incident that has raised serious concerns over humanity, a 57-year-old man allegedly attempted to kill a 4-year-old boy in Vasai after the child sat in his parked rickshaw while playing.
The incident took place at Anupam Ghar Complex society on Monday evening around 7:30 pm. According to police, the victim was playing with other children in the society premises when they climbed into a rickshaw belonging to the accused, identified as Sandeep Pandurang Pawar.
Enraged on seeing the children inside his rickshaw, the accused forced the other kids to get down but allegedly grabbed the complainant’s grandson and violently smashed his head against the iron bar of the rickshaw. Not stopping there, he lifted the child by both legs, flung him in the air, and slammed him onto the cement floor.
The brutality escalated further as the accused dragged the child towards the staircase and again banged his head against a wall, reportedly attempting to kill him.
Hearing the child’s screams, his grandmother rushed to rescue him. However, the accused allegedly kicked her in the stomach and chest, knocking her down. He also threatened, saying he would kill the child, creating panic in the area. A resident, Deepesh Thackeray, intervened and managed to rescue the child from the accused’s clutches.
The injured child was initially taken to a nearby hospital but was later shifted to a private hospital in Mira Road after his condition deteriorated and he started vomiting blood. He is currently undergoing treatment.
Vasai Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, including Section 109(1) (attempt to murder), along with other applicable sections and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.
The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway under the supervision of Police Inspector Masal.
