All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has given recognition to start Mechatronics and AI & ML courses to Government Polytechnic Nagpur (GPN). These courses will start from the new academic session. With this, GPN has become the first polytechnic college in the state to get accreditation for both these courses.

According to information received by Lokmat Times, the decision was taken in the meeting held with AICTE on Wednesday.

Taking into consideration from the industries, AICTE has updated the technical education courses. Along with this, changes have been made in degree and diploma courses.

Principal of GPN and co-director in-charge of the Departmental Technical Education Directorate, Dr Manoj Diaghwane confirmed the news and informed that along with these two courses, updated courses of Travel and Tourism, Textile, Packaging and Mining Engineering will be implemented in the institution.

Demand from industries

Dr Diaghwane told that companies coming for campus placement in the institution demand multi-skill manpower. Along with these courses, trained human resources are sought in the travel and tourism and textile sectors.

This is Mechatronics and AI&ML

Mechatronics is combination of mechanical and electronics courses while AI & ML stands for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. At present, new technology is being adopted in industries.
