Maha's Ishika enters round 2

In the 46 kg category of the tournament being held at the MLA Hostel, Nusrat Fatima (Ladakh), Anjali (Jharkhand), Navreet (Punjab), Rakhi (Haryana), Hilang (Arunachal Pradesh), and Lavanya (Goa) also confirmed their entry into the second round.

In the 48 kg category, Aleem (Arunachal Pradesh), Khushveer (Punjab), Neeti (Chandigarh), Siya (Assam), Anjali (Bihar), and Khushi (Uttarakhand) advanced. In the 50 kg category, Anita (Rajasthan), Priya (Karnataka), Anju (Bihar), Sheikh Farina Batul (Telangana), and Khushi (Haryana) emerged victorious.

Similarly, in the 52 kg category, Athina (Kerala), Neelam (Jammu & Kashmir), Yanshika (Haryana), and Indivara Singh (Uttar Pradesh); in the 54 kg category, Mahak (Chandigarh), Ritika Shri, Sonam Choden (Sikkim), and Suchitra Devi (Manipur); and in the 57 kg category, Mandisha (Andhra Pradesh), Sakshi (Haryana), Shravani Patil (Karnataka), Anushka (Uttarakhand), and Ashita (Madhya Pradesh) won their respective bouts to move into the second round.

Earlier in the morning, the tournament was inaugurated by union minister Nitin Gadkari. On this occasion, Maharashtra State Boxing Association president and former MP Rahul Shewale, MLC Kripal Tumane, Indian Boxing Federation General Secretary Pramod Kumar, vice president Ranjit Savarkar, Maharashtra Boxing Associaiton secretary Rakesh Tiwari, treasurer Milan Vaidya, along with Ashish Jaiswal, Deepak Sawant, Sanjay Nirupam, Manisha Kayande, Kiran Pandav, Devang, Arjuna Award winner Gopal Devang, coaches Ganesh Purohit and Arun Bute, among others, were present.

Promoting 65 different sports in KKM: Gadkari

During the event, Gadkari said that thru Khasdr Krida Mahotsav, efforts are being made to promote 65 different sports. Boxing, being an Olympic-level sport, is an important part of this festival. The tournament provides a significant platform for players from across the country. He urged the athletes to work hard and bring glory to the nation in international competitions, and extended his best wishes to all participants.
