Malvika to take on Akane in2nd round

She booked her seocond round meeting with former world champion and third-seeded Japanese Akane Yamaguchi after stunning Singapore's Yeo Jia Min. The world number 28th ranked Indian defeated the number 12 ranked shuttler from Singapore with a scoreline of 21-13, 10-21, 21-17.

Malavika dominated the opening game, winning 21-13, but Yeo responded strongly to take the second 21-10. However, Malavika refused to back down, regaining momentum to seal a 21-13, 10-21, 21-17 victory in an hour and three minutes.
