It can be mentioned here that two days back Lokmat Times highlighted how there are only two qualified boxing coaches in 36 Maharashtra districts. Taking a cognizance of it, the general secretary of Maharashtra Boxing Association (MBA) Dr Rakesh Tiwari said through Certified Coaches Programme (CCCP) that was launched six years back they have produced as many as 399 coaches and are ready to extend their services as government coaches if the state government requires.

Dr Tiwari said the same programme was launched with a view to keep up health of all boxers from club level to all levels up, to provide an opportunity to former boxers , non boxers, sports enthusiast to become a boxing trainer in a methodical way, to provide an opportunity to existing boxing coaches to get certified and register with MBA.

Tiwari said these coaches can upgrade their knowledge and skills through various levels of CCCP Courses. The MBA has reached every corner of Maharashtra and developed coaches through CCCP programmes to cater a need of every club to have CCCP coach. This is also an initiative to offer coaches an added edge for additional avenues and their career in Boxing.

Dr Tiwari said the aim of MBA is to produce 500 qualified boxing coaches in five years through various programmes all over Maharashtra, at least one each in the division annually and for this Talent Management Director and MBA Coaches Commission shall develop a wing of quality trainers across eight divisions.

Dr Tiwari said keeping boxer''s safety at the center MBA wants to make it mandatory for all boxing clubs, schools, colleges to appoint CCCP Coaches for boxing training and development of their teams.

He said MBA’s aim is to educate all coaches with scientific coaching methods which are practiced internationally and proven through various levels of CCCP. This will in turn instill strong and near perfection boxing fundamentals at the beginning of any boxer at any Level.

Tiwari said, “ This will result in huge number of quality boxers from all corners of Maharashtra. This will be a strong step toward long term development programme and it’s a Gold Quest for Maharashtra Boxing Association”, he said.
