A fierce clash broke out between two groups of youths in the Mahal area of Nagpur in the evening over the removal of Aurangzeb's tomb. This heated the atmosphere, and a large crowd took to the streets. Some anti-social elements set fire to it and pelted stones at the police. The police had to resort to lathi charge to disperse the crowd. It is reported that 15 policemen were injured in the stone-pelting, and the police detained 20 youths in an arrest operation till late at night.
In the evening, tension had arisen between two groups in the Chitnis Park and Gandhi Gate areas of the Mahal. Some youths got into an argument, and then various rumors started spreading. Due to this, a large crowd gathered in the area. Slogans were also raised during this time. Stones were also pelted at the police, and they were pelted. The clothes of two policemen were also torn in this. Some miscreants set fire to vehicles on the roads. Some youths were injured during this time and were taken to the hospital. Considering the situation, additional help was called in Chitnis Park. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari appealed to Nagpur residents to maintain peace.

Attack on Deputy Commissioner of Police
Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Kumar Singal was on the road. The police commissioner was injured after being stoned by the mob. Deputy Commissioner of Police Niketan Kadam was attacked with sharp weapons by some in the mob. In this, he suffered serious injuries on both his hands. He was first shifted to Mayo Hospital and then to a private hospital.
