No water crisis in Nagpur district

Nagpur, Nov 4

Due to good monsoon in the district this year, Kamptee and Saoner tehsils have recorded an increase in water level. But in three tehsils of Bhiwapur, Mouda and Katol, the water level has decreased. However, the groundwater survey department says that due to good rains, there will not be any water shortage this year.

It was expected that water level will be good, as there was good rainfall. The Nagpur district water level also increased, but that is normal. The Ground Water Survey and Development Department, surveyed the ground water level of 13 tehsils of the district at the end of September. The water levels from the pre-decided well was recorded and compared with the records of the past five years and it was detected that the increase in water level is normal.

Kamptee tehsil has recorded 1.20 percent increase in water level this year. But last year it was 1.46 percent. In the year 2018, it was 0.04 percent. According to the survey Saoner tehsil registered an increase of 1.31 percent. It was 1.07 per cent in the year 2019 and 0.06 per cent in the year 2018. Bhiwapur tehsil has recorded a decrease in water level of 0.24 per cent in 2020 and a decrease of 0.63 in 2019. An increase of 0.61 percent was registered in Katol tehsil. But this time the water level has been dropped to 0.37 percent. In the year 2018, this tehsil was included in the danger zone. In the year 2019, Mouda water level was surplus at 0.89 per cent, which reduced by 0.35 percent this year.

Department officials opine that this reduction in ground water level is normal and will have not effect on the tehsil.
