Nagpur District Chess Association is organising Umesh Panbude benefit online blitz chess tournament on May 30 from 6 p.m. onwards.

It can be mentioned here that Umesh Panbude, who had dedicated the major part of his entire life for the development of chess has left us for heavenly abode at the young age of 47 years on May 11 2021, due to Covid. He was a well-known coach, able organizer, and sincere arbiter for the game of Chess. His death is a great & irrecoverable loss to the chess fraternity. He left behind his wife and two minor children. His family has suddenly been plunged into a financial crisis as he was the only earning member. In order to support his family, to the extent possible, Nagpur District Chess Association (NDCA) has started a weekend series comprising of four weeks of blitz tournaments, the first of which will be held online on May 30 on the eve of his birthday which falls on May 31. .NDCA has announced that the former legends in chess are coming forward for help. This weekend the prize money for the tournament will be sponsored by the former four well-known players, M/s Jayant Katdare, Sachidanand Soman, Pankaj Joshi and Anup Deshmukh from Nagpur. The entire entry fees earned, will be donated to Late Panbude’s family. Total prize money for the tournament is Rs 20,000.Tthe last date of entry is May 29 by 11.30 p.m. The entry fee will be Rs 200 per participant.
