Nagpur, April 16

The Covid infection is spreading at a rapid rate in Mental Hospital and around 83 patients have been infected in one month, contrary to the claims of the Mental Hospital management. Two mental patients are undergoing treatment at GMCH and one has died. The news has been confirmed by Dr Purshottam Madavi, but still the health department is in deep slumber and not taking any steps to help other patients in the mental hospital to prevent them from coming under Covid ambit.

According to the information with Lokmat Times, 20 samples of mental patients were sent for testing out of which 12 samples came positive taking the total tally to 83. While the management is claiming that they are taking precautions so that other patients should not get affected, but the positive patient count is increasing day-by-day and along with the patients, the staff is also getting infected.

Earlier an official from the health department had claimed to prevent the patients from becoming Covid positive, they are thinking of administering them Covid vaccine and a request has also been forwarded to Central government in this regard. But sadly, no concrete measures have been taken in this regard and hence not a single patient has been given the Covid vaccine, refuting the tall claims made by the hospital management.
