PNB beat union Bank in thrilling match
After winning the toss, PNB elected to bat and posted a competitive 175/7 in 20 overs. Skipper Rutupurna Pathak led from the front with a fluent 40 (5 fours, 1 six), while Nishant Chichghare 36( 1x4, 2x6) and Rohit Gajbhiye chipped in with 36 runs ( 4x4, 2x 6) each. For union Bank, Nikhil Tarekar (3/24) and Ajit Lagjomji (2/25) were the main wicket-takers.
Chasing 176, union Bank got off to a strong start through openers Pratik Butolia, scored 58 (8 fours, 2 sixes), and Ankit Godi, who made 38 (6 fours), adding 84 runs for the first wicket. Swapnil Mankar who came at the fall of first wicket contributed 27 to take the score to 150/2, leaving just 26 runs needed from the final 6 overs.
However, Rohit Gajbhiye turned the match on its head with a sensational spell of 5/11 in 3 overs, restricting union Bank to 165/8 in 20 overs and sealing a narrow but memorable win for PNB. Rahul Sahare, Rutupurna Pathak and Kishore Warudkar chipped in with a wicket each. PNB’s spirited bowling in the closing stages proved decisive as they clinched a thrilling victory.
