Retired Mumbai High Court Justice Gulabrao Deorao Patil (81), resident of Crorepati Galli, Civil Lines passed away due to old age after midnight on Saturday.

He was the son of former Yavatmal MP Deorao Patil and elder brother of former MP Uttamrao Patil. Gulabrao Patil started his career as a lawyer in the Nagpur Bench of the High Court under the guidance of the then eminent lawyer C S Dharmadhikari (late retired Justice) after graduating in 1968.

He was appointed Assistant Public Prosecutor in 1978 and 1986 . On May 30, 1990, he was appointed as a additional judge and after two years he was appointed as Chief Justice. He also served as the officiating Chief Justice. He retired in 2003. He is survived by two sons Dhananjay and Makrand, two married daughters and a large extended family. His last rites were performed at Ambazari crematorium. The legal circle in the city has received a big jolt.
