Hundreds of the students belonging to the SC, ST and Other Backward Classes were admitted for higher education in minority colleges through the cap round in 2016-17. But these students were told that their freeship in 2019 has not been approved by the social welfare department.
Therefore, a fee of `4.21 lakh will have to be paid to the colleges for the entire session. Therefore, the students belonging to the scheduled castes and tribes found themselves staring at the bleak future. Sanjay Patil of the Republican Party of India took up their cause and staged agitation in this regard. This issue was raised in the Legislative Assembly.
