Tableau of Baidyanath in grand shobhayatra today

The tableau narrates a story where both sons of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati—Kartikeya and Ganesha—were highly intelligent, and a debate once arose between them about who was superior. To resolve this, Shiva and Parvati set a test: whoever completes three rounds of the universe first would be considered greater. At that time, both Ganesha and Kartikeya worshipped their father, Lord Mahadev, in the form of a Shivling.

In the tableau presented by Shri Baidyanath Ayurved Bhavan, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are shown lovingly watching their two sons as they perform the pooja. According to Hindu scriptures, there are twelve sacred places where Lord Shiva manifested himself as a radiant pillar of light, known as the Jyotirlingas.
