The students presented thrilling demonstrations on the occasion of World Olympic Day at RTM Nagpur University ground, here on Wednesday.
The programme was organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education. Vice-chancellor Dr Subhash Choudhary and pro-vice chancellor Dr Sanjay Dudhe were the chief guests on the occasion. Arjuna and Dronacharya awardee and varsity senate member Vijay Munishwar, members of board of physical education of RTM Nagpur University Dr Dhananjay Welukar, and Dr Vishakha Jjoshi were the spacial guests on the occasion.
The student of Mohota Science College presented war techniques of Shiva era under the guidance of Dr Sambhaji Bhonsale.
The students of karate and gymnastic centre of the university presented a human pyramid, self-defence, floor exercise, aerobatics etc under the guidance of Yug Bahadur Chhatri and Vijay Ghichre.
International yoga player Dhanashree Lekurwwale also performed yog pyramid.
On the occasionn Dr Subhash Choudhary honoured international boxer Alfiya Pathan, international table tennis referee Mangesh Mopkar, sea swimmer Jayant Duble and divyang archer Abhishek Thavre.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Choudhary said, " Physical exercise create energy in the body and it help to live a peaceful life. Exercise also help one to concentrate on studies and on the playfield. Each college student should participate in any game", he said.
Shiv Chhatrapati awardee IS Rndhawa, Gavai, Joshi, Vaishali Chatare, former joint director of sports department Dr Jaipraksh Duble, president of Nagpur District Athletics Association Gurudev Nagrale, joint secretary Ramchandra Wani, secretary of Nagpur District Table Tennis Association Adv. Ashutosh Potnis, athletics coach Ravindra Tong, Jitendra Ghordadekar, gymnastic coach Prachi Ratnaparkhi, Pallavi Khandale, badminton coach Jayendra Dhole and others were present on the occasion.
