Nagpur, May 22

The police on Saturday took action against the director of Varsha Wine Shop for repeatedly violating Covid rules and regulations, while selling liquor. DCP Lohit Matani himself went to the wine shop and took action.

There is a Varsha Wine Shop within the limits of Ganeshpeth Police Station. The police were receiving frequent complaints that the rules and regulations imposed by the administration for the sale of liquor were being violated at the shop.

The police had repeatedly warned the wine shop director that action would be taken against him. Despite this, the terms and conditions were being violated by the directors of Varsha Wine Shop.

DCP Matani got the information around 5.30 pm on Saturday and he himself reached Varsha Wine Shop with his team and summoned the directors of the shop.

When asked about the rule violation the directors gave vague answer. He also called NMC officials as well as state excise department officials were informed and called to the spot. He then instructed the NMC officials to seal the shop and take stock of the wine shop. The action will be completed by late night DCP Matani told Lokmat Times.

Kalamna,Yashodhara Nagar

den of illegal liquor sale

Many liquor retailers in the city are selling liquor by flouting all Covid norms blatantly. Unlicensed liquor is being sold day and night by licensed and illegal liquor dealers in Kalamna and Yashodhara Nagar. Illegal liquor sales are rampant in the area. Despite the police being aware of it, they are turning blind eye. Therefore, it is being suspected that whether the police have given tacit consent to these illegal liquor dealers.
