Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: Over 85,000 Senior and Disabled Voters to Use Vote-from-Home Facility

Nashik district has 50,28,072 registered voters, including 25,99,839 men, 24,28,113 women, 120 third-gender individuals, and 8,811 military personnel. For senior citizens over 85 years old and disabled voters with more than 40% disability, a special vote-from-home facility has been arranged.

A total of 60,278 senior citizens aged 85 and above, and 25,287 disabled voters will use this postal ballot facility in Nashik. Among these, 250 voters are over 100 years old, with a higher percentage of elderly voters in rural areas. Additionally, 27,598 physically disabled voters are eligible for this service.

Voting at home for these groups will be conducted on November 8 and 19. To ensure smooth operation, 10 teams have been formed—one for each constituency. Each team will include an election officer, a police superintendent, an election department official, and a videographer.

This initiative ensures that senior citizens and disabled voters can participate in the democratic process safely and comfortably from their homes.
