5 associated with Tablighi Jamaat test positive for COVID-19 in Agra, district tally reaches 89

With 5 more COVID-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh's Agra, all associated with Delhi's Tablighi Jamaat event, the district's tally for the infection climbed to 89, including 80 active cases, said an official.

The total number of positive corona cases linked to Tablighi Jamaat members and their contacts has reached 49 in the district, all of them are placed under institutional quarantine, said Agra District Magistrate Prabhu N Singh.

On Thursday, 19 people tested positive for coronavirus in Agra.In Uttar Pradesh, 410 people have detected positive for COVID-19, including 31 recovered and 4 deaths, as per the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry's latest bulletin.Moreover, Agra is among 15 worst-affected COVID-19 districts of Uttar Pradesh, which has been sealed till April 30 in a bid to contain the spread of the highly contagious virus.The other districts include Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Kanpur Nagar, Varanasi, Shamli, Meerut, Bareilly, Bulandshahr, Basti, Saharanpur, Maharajganj and Sitapur, Additional Chief Secretary, (Home), Awsh K Awasthi had said.
