Ahmedabad Demolition Drive: AMC Demolishes Illegal Houses of Accused Involved in Sword-Brandishing on Holika Dahan Night in Vastral (Watch Video)
Ahmedabad is witnessing a rising menace of anti-social elements, prompting swift action from the authorities. The Ramol police arrested nine individuals who had created panic in the Vastral area near Shashwat Society in Gujarat on Thursday night by brandishing sharp weapons, including swords and sticks. In response, the police paraded them in public on Friday, March 14.
Within 24 hours of the incident, the government took action by ordering the demolition of illegal constructions belonging to the accused. A police convoy, accompanied by officials from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and senior police officers, reached the spot to carry out the demolition.

A video shared by news agency IANS shows AMC workers demolishing the house of the accused with hammers. Two police officers in civilian clothes were also seen making the accused do push-ups and thrashing him with sticks in broad daylight in front of the public.
The administration began demolishing the illegal properties linked to the accused. The house of Rajveer Singh Bihola, one of the key suspects, was cleared before the bulldozer moved in. Similarly, the residence of Shyam Kamle in the Bhagwandas Chawl in Khokhra was demolished, along with illegal structures belonging to Alkesh Yadav. To break the morale of the accused, they were brought to the demolition site.

Ahmedabad Police Commissioner stated that the accused had created fear by vandalising a public road in the Ramol area. One of the suspects, Pankaj Bhavsar, has been detained under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities (PASA) Act due to his criminal history. The police have identified 14 accused in the case, including one juvenile. Seven of them were found to have illegal constructions, which have now been demolished. A four-day remand has been granted for further investigation.
The violence reportedly stemmed from a dispute between two groups. A viral video shows miscreants not only clashing among themselves but also targeting pedestrians, vandalising vehicles, and damaging property in the area. According to local residents, a mob of 15-20 individuals created panic by attacking passersby and hurling abuses.
The Ramol police swiftly arrested nine suspects, who were publicly paraded and made to realise the consequences of their actions. Videos of the incident and the subsequent police action have been widely circulated on social media. Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against anyone engaging in such criminal activities in the future.
