The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) began a demolition drive on Wednesday morning, June 11, at the Bhoomiheen Camp in Govindpuri of Delhi, located in the Kalkaji Assembly constituency. Residents of the camp had been served a notice to vacate their homes by June 10. Following this, DDA bulldozers began the demolition on the morning of June 11.

A large number of Delhi Police personnel and paramilitary forces have been deployed at the site. During the municipal elections, over 1,800 people were allotted flats. However, around 1,200 residents approached the court. Now, with approval from the High Court, the demolition of 1,200 houses in the Kalkaji Landless Camp slum colony is underway.

A local resident said, "Delhi government is saying that arrangements will be made." On Tuesday, Atishi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi assembly and AAP MLA from Kalkaji, staged anti-demolition drive protests in the area, following which the Delhi Police detained her.
Atishi launched a scathing attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, saying that the BJP and Rekha Gupta will be cursed by the slum dwellers. "BJP is going to demolish these jhuggis tomorrow, and I am being jailed today because I am raising my voice for these slum dwellers. 'BJP aur Rekha Gupta ko jhuggi waalon ki haay lagegi.' ... BJP will never come back," Atishi said a day earlier.
