Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: The political atmosphere in Bihar has heated up ahead of the assembly elections as Tej Pratap Yadav’s party, Janshakti Janta Dal, announced its first list of 21 candidates on Monday, October 13, 2025. Tej Pratap, the elder son of former chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, will contest from the Mahua constituency in Vaishali district.

Vikas Kumar Kavi from Belsan, Madan Yadav from Shahpur, Dr. Gulshan Yadav from Bakhtiyarpur, Ajit Kushwaha from Bikramganj, Niraj Rai from Jagdishpur, Avinash from Atri, Prem Kumar from Wazirganj, Awadh Kishore Jha from Benipur, Shankar Yadav from Maner, Dinesh Kumar Surya from Dumao, Ashutosh from Govindganj, Meenu Kumari (Lawyer) from Patna Sahib, Sanjay Yadav from Madhepura, Taufiq Rahman from Narkatiyaganj, Dharmendra Krantikari from Barauli, Braj Bihari Bhat from Kuchaikot, Raviraj Kumar from Hisua, Jay Singh Rathi from Mahnar, Pushpa Kumari from Baniapur, and Surabhi Yadav from Mohiuddin Nagar.

Earlier this year, Tej Pratap Yadav was expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, the party led by his father Lalu Prasad Yadav. After his expulsion, he launched his own political outfit, Janshakti Janta Dal, creating a stir in Bihar’s political landscape.

Tej Pratap previously served as Bihar’s Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change. In the 2020 assembly elections, he contested from the Hasanpur constituency in Samastipur district on an RJD ticket. This time, he will fight from Mahua in Vaishali district.

Political analysts believe the new party could alter the state’s electoral dynamics, though its impact will become clear only after the results.
