Bihar Legislative Assembly Receives Bomb Threat Email; Security Tightened, Dog Squad Deployed

Panic spread in Patna after a bomb threat targeting the Bihar Legislative Assembly was received via email on Friday. Following the threatening message, security at the Assembly complex was immediately tightened and police launched a search operation.

According to officials, the email warned that the Assembly building would be blown up with a bomb. After receiving the information, Speaker Prem Kumar promptly took cognisance of the matter and convened a meeting with senior officials of the Assembly Secretariat to review the situation.

The Speaker directed In-Charge Secretary Khyati Singh to inform the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police about the threat and ensure that a security review of the Assembly premises was carried out at the earliest. The information was subsequently shared with the Chief Secretary and DGP Vinay Kumar.

Soon after the alert, the administration went into a state of heightened vigilance. Acting on instructions from senior officials, police teams and other investigating agencies rushed to the Assembly premises. Under their supervision, police personnel along with a dog squad began an extensive search operation, combing every part of the Assembly complex to ensure safety.

Notably, the threat in Bihar comes a day after hoax emails warning of missile and bomb attacks at several key locations in Mumbai triggered a major security alert on Thursday morning. The emails reportedly targeted prominent sites including the Vidhan Bhavan, the Bombay Stock Exchange, the Bombay High Court, several banks, and the city’s Mumbai Metro network. Following the alert, the Vidhan Bhavan complex at Nariman Point, where the state legislature’s budget session was underway, was briefly evacuated and locked down for about 40 minutes while security agencies carried out searches. After detailed searches, nothing suspicious was found and authorities declared the threat a hoax.
