Bomb Threat to Delhi Assembly for Second Day; Security Tightened

The Delhi Legislative Assembly received another bomb threat through email on Wednesday, marking the second consecutive day of such alarming messages targeting the House, just hours after a similar incident occurred ahead of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s scheduled budget presentation, officials said. According to inputs, the latest threatening email was sent during the early morning hours to the official email ID of the Assembly Speaker. The message claimed that explosive devices had been planted inside the Assembly premises during the ongoing session. It also reportedly contained several provocative statements and references intended to create panic.

This incident follows closely on Tuesday’s developments, when the Assembly had received two separate bomb threats within a span of minutes in the morning. The first email was received at 7:28 am, followed by another sent directly to Speaker Vijender Gupta at 7:49 am, triggering a massive security alert ahead of the Chief Minister’s budget presentation. In response to Wednesday’s fresh threat, authorities immediately ramped up security arrangements across and around the Assembly complex. Bomb disposal squads, dog squads, and local police units conducted extensive anti-sabotage checks to ensure there were no explosive materials present.

Officials stated that every threat is being treated with utmost seriousness, and stringent measures have been put in place to safeguard the premises and those present. A senior police officer confirmed that thorough inspections are underway and surveillance systems have been significantly enhanced. Entry and exit points have also been placed under tighter control to prevent any potential breach. Meanwhile, cyber experts along with law enforcement agencies have initiated a detailed probe to identify the origin of the threatening email. Advanced technical methods such as IP tracking and email header analysis are being employed to trace the sender and determine the credibility of the threat.
