With the number of coronavirus patients on the surge, medical experts believe that India is now in stage 3 of the COVID-19 epidemic. In a interview with a leading media portal, Doctor from COVID-19 Hospitals Task Force said that  the coming five to ten days would be essential to control the epidemic because all those who are asymptomatic now, might start showing symptoms. Dr. Gyani was part of the meeting which was attended by prominent doctors and healthcare providers which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He also pointed out that the government is still following the old stringent policy when it comes to conducting coronavirus tests, and this needs to change urgently. The government has established 118 testing labs, which have a capacity to conduct 15,000 tests every day, said Gyani. Apart from this, 16 private labs are also operative and more are being added every day.

In the meeting chaired by PM Modi, a decision was taken to convert government hospitals into COVID-19 hospitals with the help of private hospitals that can supply medical equipment and trained doctors and medics.Dr. Gyani also rued the lacked of time and transportation which was one of the main concerns as necessary measures were not in place for the pandemic. For the unversed the first case was reported in India on January 30. Now what needs to be answered is has the lockdown come late or do we have enough resources and time to control the spread.
