As India is witnessing a surge in COVID cases in the second wave of the pandemic, a number of states and UTs have imposed lockdown-like measures to contain the virus. In the second wave the number of covid cases continue to increase as new symptoms are appearing in infected patients. Previously, corona patients had symptoms such as coughing, fever, sore throat, loss of taste and smell, and difficulty breathing, but now these symptoms have been aggravated.

According to the National Institutes of Health and Family Welfare, more than half of patients with corona have some symptoms that have not been seen before. The main symptom is dry mouth. This is also called xerostomia. This symptom may appear in the early stages of infection. Over the next few days, the patient develops symptoms such as fever and sore throat.

According to a report, new symptoms of corona infection include dry tongue. During this time the tongue may turn white or white spots may appear on it. Patients who experience such symptoms may have difficulty eating. Meals cannot be chewed properly due to lack of saliva. One might also experience difficulty while speaking.

According to doctors, the main cause of dry mouth is a decrease in the body's ability to produce saliva. Saliva protects your mouth from dangerous bacteria and other harmful elements. It also helps in digestion.  According to experts, monitoring the symptoms early on can be very helpful in diagnosing and treating the patient. This can prevent the spread of infection. Meanwhile, the rate of coronavirus infection in the country is not slowing down. The country has once again registered more than two lakh patients.
