Delhi: Massive Fire at Nature Bazaar Destroys Around 50 Shops
A massive fire erupted at the well-known Nature Bazaar in South Delhi on Sunday morning, destroying nearly 50 shops and prompting a large-scale firefighting operation.
According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), authorities received a distress call about the blaze at around 7:37 am. Shortly afterward, at least 10 fire tenders were dispatched to the scene to control the rapidly spreading flames.
The fire broke out in the market complex located near Andheria Mor in the Lado Sarai area. The market is popular for its rows of temporary and semi-permanent stalls selling handicrafts, handmade items and decorative products.
Witnesses reported seeing thick black smoke rising from the marketplace as the flames quickly engulfed several shops in the crowded complex. Firefighters launched an extensive operation to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby structures.
Officials said nearly 50 shops were completely gutted in the incident, leading to significant damage to goods and shop structures. Fire crews continued cooling operations in the area to ensure the fire was fully brought under control.
Fire Officer Manish Sherawat said the department received the alert early in the morning and fire vehicles from the Vasant Kunj fire station were among the first to reach the site.
Police personnel were also deployed to manage crowds and assist emergency teams during the operation. Authorities said the exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined and will be investigated.
