Former CM of Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah of the state has been released after the government ended special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and imposed massive security restrictions and a communication lockdown.

Farooq Abdullah was detained for seven months under the Public Safety Act or PSA, a stringent law that allows detention without trial.National Conference MP Farooq Abdullah after being released, in Srinagar said,"I will not speak on any political matter till the time everyone is released."

He said,"I'm grateful to people of the State and all leaders and people in the rest of the country who spoke for our freedom. This freedom will be complete when all leaders are released. I hope GoI will take action to release everyone."
