Food Poisoning in Ahmedabad: Over 50 Fall Ill After Eating Prasad at Religious Event in Gujarat Village
More than 50 villagers fell ill after eating prasad at a religious event in Rajpura village of Detroj taluka in Ahmedabad district of Gujarat. It is suspected of food poisoning after consuming prasad.
According to reports, a religious programme was organised in the village in Ahmedabad, during which a large number of villagers had sev khamani as part of the prasad. Soon after eating, several people began complaining of vomiting, nausea and stomach pain, triggering panic in the village. The number of affected individuals quickly crossed 50 as symptoms spread among those who had consumed the food.
As their condition deteriorated, the affected villagers were rushed for treatment. Many have been admitted to Bhagyodaya Hospital in Kadi, while others have been taken to nearby private hospitals. According to preliminary information, all patients are currently stable but are under observation as a precaution.
Following the incident, the health department and local administration responded swiftly. A medical team has reached Rajpura village and is collecting food samples. Laboratory tests will be conducted to determine whether contamination occurred in the food ingredients or water used in the sev khamani.
