India has fallen to fourth place in a seven-day COVID count after being overtaken by United Kingdom. India on Sunday recorded 41,157 fresh cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19), taking the country's cumulative tally to 31,106,065, the Union ministry of health and family welfare said. In the last 24 hours, the country also saw 518 people succumbing to Covid-19, taking its death toll to 413,609.  Maharashtra reported the highest deaths followed by Kerala.

In addition to this, recoveries surpassed new cases again as 42,004 people were discharged from various hospitals between Saturday and Sunday. The total number of discharges has reached 3,02,69,796.  Maharashtra reported the most 124 new deaths, as per the July 18 update, followed by Kerala (114), Odisha (67), Tamil Nadu (43) and Karnataka (42), Assam (23) and Andhra Pradesh (18) In terms of the active cases in the state, Kerala tops the list with (125273) cases followed by Maharashtra (103745) Karnataka (30105) Tamil Nadu(28590) Andhra Pradesh(25041)Odisha(19193) and Assam(18778) 

 

India on Saturday crossed 400-million mark in the number of coronavirus vaccine doses administered across the country so far. Until Saturday night, 404.5 million shots had been administered across the country to 318.4 million people, according to data released by the Union health ministry. India’s vaccination drive, which kicked off on January 16 has been mired in controversies among political groups. In the past week, India has averaged administration of around 4.1 million shots a day – a drop of over 36% of the peak levels seen in the third week of June.  12,40,07,069 persons in the age group 18-44 years across 37 States/UTs have received their first dose and total 48,50,858 have received their second dose since the start of Phase-3 of the vaccination drive.
