Kerala: Customs officials remove gold concealed in rectum of passenger, gold worth Rs 53 lakhs seized
Air Intelligence Unit at Kozhikode International Airport on Wednesday seized 1.24 kgs of gold worth Rs 53 lakhs from 2 passengers in 2 different instances. Both the passengers have been arrested and further investigation is on.
In one instance gold was concealed inside passenger's rectum; in the other it was in socks.
Over the past few months, there have been a great many numbers of gold smuggling cases reported by the customs officials from various parts of the country. The number of such incidents have increased where the customs officials have found passengers hiding the smuggled gold inside the rectum.
Recently, Tamil Nadu Customs officials recovered 864 grams of gold paste, valued at Rs 45.4 lakhs, from four passengers arriving from Dubai at Chennai Airport. The passengers had concealed the gold paste in the form of bundles, in their rectum.
