Kerala Shocker: Scissors Found Inside Woman’s Abdomen 5-Years After Surgery, Health Minister Promises Strict Action
Kerala Health Minister Veena George has assured that strict action against the surgeon and nursing staff will be taken after a surgical scissor was found inside a woman's abdomen after five years of surgery at Alappuzha Government Medical College.
Hysterectomy surgery was performed at the hospital to remove her uterus. The state health minister criticised Lalithambika for committing serious lapses during the surgery. The patient was identified as 51-year-old Usha Joseph. Scissor was detected when Usha went under medical treatment at the private hospital.

An X-ray of Usha's abdomen clearly shows the forceps. Veena George-led state health department will form a medical team in the wake of the complaint. Usha was later admitted to the private shoptalk to remove scissors from her abdomen.
The woman currently admitted to Amrita Hospital in Kochi is likely to undergo surgery on Friday. The Health Minister said that the Director of Medical Education received the primary investigation report on the incident. An expert team of doctors will visit the Alappuzha Medical College on Friday and conduct a detailed investigation.

The report of the medical team will be forwarded to the police after investigation. Strict legal action will be taken against those who are found guilty in the medica apathy. The staff who attended the case will be suspended from service pending investigation.
"A report has been received by the District Medical Officer. It is unfortunate that such an incident has occurred. An enquiry will be initiated and legal action will be taken. The report will be handed over to the police.... The Health Department will suspend the officers and doctors involved. I have spoken to the victim's family. They met the doctor at his residence, who claimed he does not remember the incident. However, he cannot run away from his responsibilities," said Veena George.
