Maharashtra Budget 2020 - 2021: Key Highlights Budget Speech

Maharashtra finance minister Ajit Pawar on Friday presented the state budget in assembly for the financial year 2020 -2021. Let us have a look at the key highlights from his budget speech

MLA Local Area Development (LAD) funds increased from 2 crore to 3 crore.

Rs. 9,800 crore allocated for district development plan.

State to create Transgender Welfare Board. Rs 5 crore allocated for the welfare of transgenders.

In 5 years, 10 lakh youth will be placed as interns with key  companies across sectors. Government to pay 75% of the salary for the interns who will be working with private and semi-government organisations under the Apprentice Act.

Rs. 1,300 crore allocated for higher and technical education.

The budget proposes Rs 5 crore for the digitization of texts available with Mumbai Marathi Grantha Sangrhalaya.

Rs. 2,525 crore allocated for education and sports activities.

FM announces Rs 7,995 crore for textile sector.

Animal husbandry and fisheries department gets Rs 3,254 crore.

Rs 670 crore allocated for installation of solar pumps for farmers.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi government proposes Rs 7, 000 crore for the loan waiver scheme for 2020 - 2021.

Rs 10, 235 crores for water conservation and a new scheme for repairs and renovation of water supply projects.

Farmers  who took crop loan in 2018-19 and regularly pay their dues will be given ₹50,000 as incentive.

150 crore for the government's 'Shiv Bhojan' thali scheme, a subsidized food scheme for the poor.
