Mahashivratri 2026: PM Narendra Modi, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and Other Political Leaders Extend Wishes to the Nation on the Auspicious Occasion

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with several other central and state leaders, extended their greetings to the citizens of the country on this occasion. In his message, Prime Minister Modi stated that the festival of Mahashivratri inspires us to practice tolerance, discipline, and spiritual growth. He urged people to maintain positivity and unity in society. Amit Shah also said that with the blessings of Lord Shiva, the nation and its people prosper, and that He guides everyone through every difficulty.

PM Modi posted on X, "To all my family members across the country, countless best wishes on Mahashivratri. My prayer is that Adidev Mahadev always keep his grace upon everyone. By His blessings, may all be blessed with well-being, and may our Bharatvarsh sit enthroned at the peak of prosperity. Har Har Mahadev!"

Home Minister Amit Shah posted on X, "Har Har Mahadev! Heartfelt wishes to all countrymen on the auspicious festival of Maha Shivratri. May Lord Mahadev, the God of Gods, bestow happiness and prosperity in everyone's life."

Devendra Fadnavis posted on X, "Har Har Mahadev! Heartfelt greetings to everyone on the sacred occasion of Maha Shivratri. May the divine power bless us all with strength, peace, and steadfast faith. Om Namah Shivaya! Warm wishes on the auspicious festival of Maha Shivratri!

Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde posted on X, "'O Lord of Kailasa, O moon-crested Shiva, With the radiant serpent king shining as a crown upon Your head. Ocean of compassion, remover of worldly sorrows, O Shambhu, without You, who will carry me across?' May all your heartfelt wishes be fulfilled—this is my humble prayer at the feet of Lord Bholenath. Heartfelt greetings to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri."

Devotees Flock to Temples

A huge rush of devotees has been witnessed at temples. At major Shiva temples such as Kashi, Nashik, Mahakaleshwar, and Somnath, devotees are standing in long queues to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. Apart from this, people in distant regions are also performing rituals and offering prayers at home in a traditional manner, including through online participation.
